HHS’ Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology announced that five certification bodies and five testing labs are over their first hurdles toward participating in the federal electronic health-record system incentive payment program.
The five certification bodies that received accreditation from the American National Standards Institute are the Certification Commission for Health Information Technology (CCHIT), Drummond Group, ICSA Laboratories, InfoGard Laboratories and Orion Register. They may now apply to the ONC for authorization to certify EHRs under the ONC’s permanent certification program.
The testing laboratories accredited through the National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program are CCHIT, Drummond Group, ICSA, InfoGuard and SLI Global Solutions. Further application to ONC to test systems under the EHR incentive program is not required.
